In 2012, Pizza Pizza introduced the world’s best pizza ordering app (and we have 25 awards and the Webby to prove it). 7 years is a long time in technology terms, the website needed a complete rebuild. Knowing users of Pizza Pizza loved our product we definitely had some work to do to provide a best in class experience.
New Tech StackWe migrated a monolithic e-commerce back end to a cloud-based, powered by over 800 micro services enabling it to scale from 0 to handling millions of orders in microseconds.
Reinvented UX
Based on years of analytics, focus groups, customer feedback and the latest tech advances, we’ve redesigned the user experience. By
We’ve brought deeper levels of customization to the surface to satisfy favourite customer product combinations.
Keeping true to the brand, we redesigned the site with accessibility and efficiency at its core. Knowing toppings are the biggest selling point, we even photographed over 500 menu items to support our new top-down look and feel.
New TechnologyFrom natural language processors, to recommendation engines, to the latest pizza tracking hardware being installed in 500+ locations, bleeding edge technology has been incorporated every step of the way.
With AI and machine learning making waves through both the retail and QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) space we saw an opportunity to be a leader in the market and redefine how users order their favourite Pizza Pizza products. Thus, the Pizza Assistant was born – a custom-built AI-powered chatbot that leverages natural language processing and the learnings of over 40,000 call centre orders.
Since launch, the Pizza Assistant has driven lots of success for the Pizza Pizza team. With 1000+ interactions a day, basket size has doubled and users who engage with the Pizza Assistant are 38% more likely to convert.
